Modified iterative versus Laplacian Landau gauge in compact U(1) theory

چکیده
Compact U(1) theory in 4 dimensions is used to compare the modified iterative and the Laplacian fixing to lattice Landau gauge in a controlled setting, since in the Coulomb phase the lattice theory must reproduce the perturbative prediction. It turns out that on either side of the phase transition clear differences show up and in the Coulomb phase the ability to remove double Dirac sheets proves vital on a small lattice.

Investigation of Laplacian gauge fixing for U(1) and SU(2) gauge fields.
The Laplacian gauge on the lattice is investigated numerically using U(1) and SU(2) gauge fields. The problem of Gribov ambiguities is addressed and to asses the smoothness of the gauge fixed configurations, they are compared to configurations fixed to the Landau gauge. The results of these comparisons with the Landau gauge indicate that Laplacian gauge fixing works very well in practice and of...
متن کاملGribov Copy and Complex Phase of Chiral Determinant ∗
We calculate the complex phase of chiral determinant by the vacuum overlap formula with configurations of two-dimensional U(1) gauge field fixed in Landau and Laplacian gauge. The complex phase fluctuates over the Gribov copies, which appear in the process of Landau gauge fixing and contain vortex-like singularities. In the Laplacian gauge, the fluctuation can be reduced and the phase can be de...

متن کاملLattice quark propagator with staggered quarks in Landau and Laplacian gauges
We report on the lattice quark propagator using standard and improved Staggered quark actions, with the standard, Wilson gauge action. The standard Kogut-Susskind action has errors of O(a) while the “Asqtad” action has O(a), O(ag) errors. The quark propagator is interesting for studying the phenomenon of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and as a test-bed for improvement. Gauge dependent quant...
متن کاملNon-Compact Pure Gauge QED in 3D is Free
For all Poincaré invariant Lagrangians of the form L ≡ f(Fμν), in three Euclidean dimensions, where f is any invariant function of a non-compact U(1) field strength Fμν , we find that the only continuum limit (described by just such a gauge field) is that of free field theory: First we approximate a gauge invariant version of Wilson’s renormalization group by neglecting all higher derivative te...
